Record Setting Performance all season long! The Patented “X Groove” is a standard feature on our GSX, FX and Custom XR series pistons. Engine builders have worked for decades to optimize ring seal. Improved ring seal means more power and efficiency. Fuel wash down and break-in debris have always been the enemy of ring seal. DSS Racing developed and patented the “X Groove” system to reduce the effects caused by fuel wash down and wear debris. The X-shaped groove sweeps excess fuel and foreign matter into the oil drain-back holes on the down-stroke and into the side relief on the up-stroke. This sweeping effect keeps the debris from getting trapped between the piston skirt and the cylinder wall, where it would normally cause scoring damage. With exotic fuels, blowers, turbos, and NOS running at today’s power levels, ultra rich mixtures are required and commonplace.
